In 1870, the rich history of Notre Dame of De Pere began when the original school, St. Francis School, began in a structure near where Notre Dame of De Pere’s current middle school resides. In 1882, a second school, St. Mary’s of De Pere, was also opened to accommodate the demand for Catholic education. In 1971, the two school sites came together under the name, Notre Dame of De Pere, with both sites being utilized to create an optimal age-related experience for the students. St. Mary’s school became Notre Dame of De Pere’s current elementary school, and the middle school site is within a short walking distance two blocks away. Notre Dame of De Pere is one of the oldest school systems within the GRACE system and holds a proud tradition of strong character and faith development as well as academic excellence.
